It’s really easy to talk about how neat it would be to see one of the players participating in the inaugural Drive, Chip and Putt competition back at Augusta National in 10 or 15 years competing in the Masters. While that’s an easy conversation to have and natural dream for any of these kids to have, let’s not lose focus on the real opportunity here with this initiative.
I’d rather hear us talk about how neat it would be if the 15,000+ kids who were excited about this opportunity with the Drive, Chip and Putt and took their shot at qualifying, if they were introducing their high school buddies or college roommates to the game in 10 to 15 years….or even if they were excited to share a round of golf with their Mom or Dad in 10 or 15 years all because of the positive memory engrained in their DNA as a result of this experience. And then when they start a family, that they are still finding time to play the game of golf and then introducing their kids to this great game.
In growing the game we’ll develop our fair share of new champions….if our focus is on developing champions we’ll miss too many opportunities to grow the game.
