On a picture perfect day at Normandie Golf club, Skip Berkmeyer carded an eagle, 4 birdies a bogey and a double bogey on his way to posting 3-under, 68. Berkmeyer will carry a one shot lead into tomorrow’s final round of the 27th Normandie Amateur Championship.
Berkmeyer, a 4-time champion, will have his hands full on Sunday as joining him in the 12:20pm final pairing is the 2012 Normandie Amateur Champion, Dr. Andy Frost and Alex Cusumano. Frost posted 2-under, 69 featuring 4 birdies and 2 bogeys. Cusumano will start the final round 2 back of Berkmeyer.
Also posting 1-under, 70 was Corey Choate of Wolf Hollow Golf Club. Choate will be paired with Phil Caravia and Ted Moloney in the 12:10pm tee time. Caravia made the turn 2-under before making consecutive bogeys on the difficult par 4, 10th and 11th holes.
Two more past champions in pursuit of Berkmeyer, Justin Bliss and Buddy Allen, are off in the 12:00pm pairing with Bob Hanneken. The trio posted 1-over, 72 on Saturday.
